random thoughts

I love a good storm. Not hurricane size, but lots of rain and a bright lightening show. (As long as no one gets hurt, of course.) I think a slight smile might have even crept across my face as I realized my house shaking the other day was actually an earthquake. To know only God is in control, and I can do nothing about it is humbling and reassuring at the same time.

Diego and I stepped outside just before the skies opened up last night...for a little digging and investigating.

Lately, it hasn't been happening as much as I'd like. There's been way to much house cleaning going on around here. And strangely, you just can't tell.

Would you believe I still don't know how to really work my camera? I'm most definitely not a natural. I've read the manual. I've even read a book about it. I think a class is in order now.

In other news, potty training is interesting. He loves undies, sometimes. He's never used the potty though. Not once. He just likes to wear them around the house until he pees in them and then wants a new pair. No, he's not ready yet. But he sure looks cute in them!

Gotta run...here comes the rain...time to get the cardboard boxes out of the yard before they turn to mush.

the weekend

This weekend's been one for lounging in pjs and fulfilling our desire to do ..and not to clean. Because you can't do both. If you're cleaning your house, you're not crafting, playing legos or building forts. And if you're doing any of these, your house is definitely not clean. By clean, I mean tidy, not free of dust...because I'm pretty sure my house will never be free of dust.

We made biscuits and pizza from scratch. Yay on the biscuits, nay on the pizza. Really... you just can't beat Papa John's. Oh yeah, and I cooked bacon on the stove...not in the microwave. The kids were amazed.

We finished sewing up Halloween costumes...there are still a few touches left...so pictures to come. Just think woodland theme...and a little someone from the North Pole.

We built super easy shelves for less than $10. Sanding, nailing, sawing for the boys....for the girls it was coloring butterflies with crayons and a hot plate I picked up yardsaleing for $1. We mailed the butterfly to Mexico for a symbolic Monarch migration. There's two more days if you're interested.

Now I did have my fits of cleaning...the kitchen floor was mopped, the pantry was cleaned out... thanks to this motivation, and stuff was put away...but you can't tell.

We're not perfect. There was also a bunch of yelling. A plastic sled we picked up this weekend... led to kids pulling each other around the house on the grass... which led to SUPER tired kids. Our fun weekends usually end like this. It doesn't mean it wasn't fun. It just means we don't know when to stop.

AND being tired leads me to... super cute pjs!!...he's growing out of them quickly so we'll use them while the fittin's good. Off to bed!
